For those meeting you for the first time, who is Ezra?

I’m originally from Guatemala, and today I call Portugal home. I’ve always been curious about the world, the people in it, and the stories that shape how we live. I’m ambitious by nature, creative in the way I think, and always looking for something new to learn.

But above all, I’m a people person. I love a good conversation, a sense of humour, and discovering what makes someone who they are. I connect with people quite naturally, and I enjoy making them laugh, sometimes without even realising I’m doing it.

What brought you to Portugal?

Moving to Europe was one of the most defining decisions of my life. I was willing to leave the familiarity of home, even when my family encouraged me to stay, because I wanted to experience the world for myself.

That decision opened the door to new experiences, different ways of thinking, and a better understanding of what life can offer beyond what we already know. I’ve always believed that fear will be there, but it shouldn’t necessarily decide what we do. Sometimes, you simply have to take the step and discover what’s waiting on the other side.

You seem to have an entrepreneurial mind. Where does that come from?

I grew up surrounded by business-minded people, with family stories that include generations of entrepreneurs and remarkable women. I believe that environment shaped the way I think.

I’m constantly creating business ideas, exploring possibilities, and developing ventures of my own. I genuinely enjoy the process, from imagining a concept to working through the details and figuring out how it could become a reality.

One day, I’d love to open my own café, a business concept I’ve explored in considerable depth. I’ve also developed plans for a bus company, another ambition I’d love to pursue when the opportunity comes. I know that, with time and determination, I can bring one or both of these ventures to life — and perhaps many more along the way.

For me, creating businesses is more than a professional ambition. It’s a way of expressing my creativity, challenging myself, and turning ideas into something tangible. It’s something I genuinely enjoy, and my mind rarely sits still for long.

What matters most to you outside of work?

Family and friends, wherever they may be. A place I can call home. My personal style, good food, and staying active.

I enjoy going to the beach, travelling, learning new skills, and finding opportunities to expand my perspective. I’ve visited more than 20 countries, returning to some of them several times, particularly Spain.

I’m also someone who enjoys writing and putting thoughts on paper. My father once told me that my handwriting was an extension of myself and my creativity. I’ve never forgotten that.

I enjoy ambition and the process of building something, but I also appreciate the personal connections and simple pleasures that make life worth living.

What would surprise people about you?

I’m a fun guy, naturally charismatic, and I connect with people quite easily. I enjoy making people laugh, sometimes without even realising I’m doing it.

I don’t think you need to be the loudest person in the room to make an impression. I enjoy a good conversation, meeting people from different backgrounds, and making others feel comfortable enough to be themselves.

I take my ambitions seriously, but I also believe there’s room for humour, spontaneity, and enjoying the moment.

How do you go the extra mile in your everyday life?

For me, it starts with the little things. If I move something, I try to put it back. If I cook, I make an effort to clean up immediately afterwards rather than leave everything for later.

I’m not someone who follows a strict routine or has every hour planned out. I tend to do things when I feel ready to do them. But I’m learning to push myself to take care of things as they come, instead of leaving them behind for another day.

I believe that when something needs to be done and you have the opportunity to do it now, there’s a certain satisfaction in simply getting it done. It’s a small habit, but one that reminds me that progress often starts with the things directly in front of us.

What does all of this have to do with your work?

For me, hospitality has always been about more than providing a service. It’s about understanding people, recognising that everyone travels differently, and paying attention to the details that make an experience feel personal.

Through Ezra Azmitia Private Concierge, I bring together my background in hospitality, my curiosity for history and culture, and my passion for discovering Portugal.

I want to help people experience the country beyond the obvious, with thoughtful planning, personal attention, and the freedom to enjoy their time without worrying about every detail.

Ultimately, it’s about creating experiences that reflect the person taking the journey. No two travellers are exactly alike, and I believe their experiences shouldn’t be either.
